Demonstration of the LGS building frame

Researching for the affordable but resilient housing solutions, a model house using Light Gauge Steel (LGS) frame and innovative footing systems has been  built at the Burney Campus of the University of Melbourne. The project was done with the help of students from ‘Management of Construction’ class and with the cooperation of two academic visitors from Assam, Dr Pradip Baishya and Mr Sasanka Borah. Two PhD students, Velyne Katharpi and Arup Deka also took active roles. The project was coordinated by Dr Hemanta Doloi and Dr David Week. The industry partners were Dynamic Steel Frame, Melbourne and Surefoot, Melbourne.
