Velyne Katharpi

Miss. Velyne Katharpi is a graduate in Architecture from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. Velyne has some good exposure working on a project in Karbi Anglong where she attempted to retrofit, restructure, redesign and revitalize the cluster of villages in the hilly district of Karbi Anglong in Assam, by proposing an educational and cultural facility in Tika Village.

The research topic of Velyne is “Redefining Smart Village: Retaining cultural identity in this Digital waves” where she aims to investigate the native characteristics of the Karbi villages that contribute to the sense of belongingness, provide sustainability and affordability to the community. The study then extends to develop models for creating smart villages by integrating necessary technological support and retaining the vernacular character of the hills of Assam.
